Renee Sheryl Wersching, has lived in the Greater Kansas City area for 38 years - since the age of six. After taking a 15 year break from painting and drawing, she began painting figures and faces again in the fall of 2006. Renee is currently a virtual student at Fort Hays State University working on a degree in Sociology; and she works full time as a recruiter for a local career college. She has no formal training in art, but as a young girl began to learn to paint with oil paints from her mother, local artist, Bonnie Loeding. Renee’s first oil painting was a 5” X 7” self-portrait on canvas at the age of 5, which is still in the collection of her mother (a colorful oversized face with straight arms and round balls for hands). Through the years, she has painted landscapes in oil and acrylic and previously drew portraits using colored pencils. All of Renee’s current works are painted with acrylic paint. Previous works are signed as Renee Loeding, or Renee DeWitt.
